BURIAL: 27 Aug 1849 Hoye Cemetery, Crab Tree Bottom Sang Run, Allegany County (now Garrett), Maryland Married Married Elizabeth Friend (1821-1902) on Aug 29, 1841, at Sang Run. Of this union, five children: 1. Mary Elizabeth: b. 8 Aug 1842; d. 3 Sept 1903 2. William Harrison: b: 22 Jun 1844; d. 25 Jun 1908 3. Elijah: b. 10 Apr 1846; d. 26 Sept 1938 4. Benjamin Franklin: b: 23 May 1848; d. 30 Jul 1926 5. Sarah Catherine: b. 16 Aug, 1849; d. 19 Sept 1916 David Hoye was a farmer. After his marriage he and Elizabeth lived a brief time on a farm that is part of "Friend's Delight" west of the Youghiogheny River at Sang Run, which included about 400 acres of "Friend's Delight" and the Gleanings." It was deeded to David in 1835 by his father William Waller Hoye at the request of his uncle John Hoye. Later, David moved his family to the ''Aunt Betsy Hoye' farm and lived there until his death at the age of thirty-four years. David contracted typhoid fever at Cumberland while attending his Uncle John's funeral. It is said that David was recovering from his illness when the doctor, while under the influence of liquor, gave him the wrong medicine. His funeral was held at the Hoye cemetery at Crab Creek Bottom, and the sermon was preached form the text, "I looked and behold a pale horse, and his name that sat on him, was Death!"
