Description	:	Delcie Maude Stowers, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Bartlett) Rausher, was born on August 17, 1916 southeast of Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on September 6, 2004 in Nelson at the age of 88 years and 19 days. Delcie attended district # 14 rural school and graduated from the class of 1934 from Nelson High School. Read More	Delcie Maude Stowers, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Bartlett) Rausher, was born on August 17, 1916 southeast of Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on September 6, 2004 in Nelson at the age of 88 years and 19 days. Delcie attended district # 14 rural school and graduated from the class of 1934 from Nelson High School. She taught in rural schools for six years, four in the Grand Prairie District and two in the Pleasant Ridge District. On May 4, 1940 she was united in marriage to Virgil Stowers at the Methodist Parsonage in Nelson. They began their married life on a farm southwest of Nelson. In 1944 she and her husband moved into Nelson where she started her career of working and serving the residents of Nelson and surrounding communities in different capacities. First working in the office of Nelson's City, Ligh and Water department. Later she and her husband owned and operated the Nelson Cleaning Shop for ten years. They then purchased the Hardware Store in Nelson which they operated as Stowers Hardware for thirty years. She loved and enjoyed meeting and serving the public. Delcie was a member of the United Methodist Church and now a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. She is also a member of the Nelson American Legion Auxiliary #187, and a member of the Nelson Senior Citizens where she served as President for 10 years and was a very dedicated leader and worker. Delcie enjoyed gardening and yard work and sports, especially football and bowling. She loved traveling having touched every state in the United States. She enjoyed her relatives and friends, and loved and took much pride in her nieces and nephews, always interested in their accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil on August 4, 1991 and two brothers: Clare and Lloyd Rausher, brother-in-law Ross Reeve and sister-in-law Eva Hamel. She is survived by her sisters: Dorothy Reeve of Aurora, NE and Elsie Grummert and husband Eldrick of Nelson, NE; sisters-in-law Edith Rausher of Nelson, NE and Ethel Rauscher (sic) of Clarendon, AR; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, NE with Pastor Hays officiating. Music was "In The Garden" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", with Debi Garrison as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist. Pallbearers were Lloyd Rausher, Bill Rausher, Larry Reeve, Dennis Reeve, Duane Reeve and Craig Grummert. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, NE.
