Baker, assisted by the Rev. Lester C. Hall. Mrs. Piburn had been in failing health for several months. She was a patient in the Edmundson hospital two months, returning to Malvern in February where they lived in an apartment in the McCord residence for six weeks. Delilah Ann McFarland Piburn was born near Strahan in White Cloud township, April 22, 1872, the daughter of Levi H. and Chrsitena Addy McFarland. She departed this life March 22, 1945 in the Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. She was married to Edwin H. Piburn March 4, 1890 and she and her husband lived their entire 55 years of married life in the neighborhood of White Cloud township in Mills County. To this union were born three children, Harry H. Piburn, Mary Edna Hammack, and Georgia Alice smith, all of whom are living and all of whom were at her bedside when the end came. "The world is a man's world, but the home is a woman's world." There is not a woman in the world whose home was more her entire world than that of Mrs. Piburn. Her entire thoughts were for her family and she frequently said sh hoped to be the first to go, as she could not bear to see any of her family go first. In this her wish was fulfilled, as hers was the first death in her immediate family. She joined the Baptist Church early in life and remained true to that faith to the end. Besides her husband and three children, she leaves to mourn her loss, four grandchildren, Virgil C. Hammack, Edward H. Piburn, Donald M. Piburn, and Marvin V. Piburn, and one great grandchild, Michael Ray Piburn, and a large number of more distant relatives as well as a host of childhood and life-time friends. The arrangements of the service were at her request. Burial was in the Malvern Cemetery. Casket bearers were Virgil Hammack, Edward, Donald, and Franklin Vestal, Emmett Gipe accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Chas Gipe sang, Mrs. Vern Walker, Mrs. Gerald Wilcox and Mrs. Roy Parker cared for the flowers.
