Delores is survived by four children, Carla Ackerman of Mount Vernon, Dan(Char) Ackerman of Joliet, Ill., Richard (Penny) Ackerman of Cedar Rapids and Randy (Suski)Ackerman of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Dean (Sharon) Helgens of Scotch Grove; a sister, Marlene (Larry) Coppess of Clarence; 11 grandchildren, Ericka (Jayson) Hebdon of Monticello, Curtis Ackerman of Texas, Jasmin (Wally) Blair of Santee, Calif., Amber (Josh) Bosier of Cedar Rapids, Chris Ackerman of Valparaiso, Ind, Matt and Angie Ackerman of Joliet, Ill., Ashley and Nick Ackerman and Kimberly and David Ackerman, all of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren: along with numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ackerman; her parents, Harvey and Evalena Helgens; and a grandson, Benjamin Ackerman. Delores was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Scotch Grove, the daughter of Harvey and Evalena Helgens. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1952. She was joined in wedlock to Carl on June 29, 1957, in St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Rapids. Delores worked at Cryovac Sealed Air for 36 years, retiring in 2000. She was a hard worker and loved her job. Delores enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, where she attended faithfully. Delores was a gentle, generous and loving person who dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed by all. Memorials may be directed to the family.
