Church DeLoss Drobney, 48, a life-time Pocahontas resident, died Saturday evening, Mar. 13, in University hospitals at Iowa City, where he had been a patient for three weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Sacred Heart Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Sylvester Grady as celebrant of the requiem high mass. Mr. Drobney's four sons were Mass servers. Casket bearers were Dan Clapper, James Quinn, Paul Hudek, Verle Hudek, Joe Hallman and George McCartan. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Drobney was a member of American Legion Liberty Post No. 18 at Pocahontas. He was born July 22, 1916 at Pocahontas and was graduated from Pocahontas high school. During World War II he served in the Pacific theater of war. In 1940 he was married to Irene Hronek at Pocahontas. He was associated with his father in the operation of the Drobney Recreation Parlor and also operated a television sales and service shop. In July, 1964, he purchased the interest of his father in the recreation parlor. Mr. Drobney is survived by his wife; six children, Roger, a student at Iowa State University at Ames, Ronald, who attends State College at Iowa at Cedar Falls, and Richard, Donald, Pauline and Denise, and his father, Albert Drobney.
