HOXMEIER RECEIVES MILITARY HONORS AT FUNERAL SATURDAY Dominic T. Hoxmeier, 76, retired business man, died Wednesday, March 4, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars, after an illness of three weeks. He was born at Alton October 21, 1887, son of the late Theodore and Mary Krier Hoxmeier. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Academy at Alton, managed the local Farmers Elevator until 1935 and thereafter became manager of the pioneer Hoxmeier General Store until retiring in 1956. Mr. Hoxmeier was a veteran of World War I and for many years historian of Floyd Post, American Legion. He was a member for 55 years of Epiphany Council, Knights of Columbus, Sioux City. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 7 from St. Mary’s Church at Alton of which he was a faithful member. Burial was in the parish cemetery with graveside service by Floyd Post, A.L. Survivors include five sisters: Sister Mary Claire O.S.F. of Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa; Sister Mary Jeanne, O.S.F. of Dubuque and Misses Susan, Mary and Clara Hoxmeier of Alton; six nieces and a nephew in California. Mike, Dr. Nick. Bernard and Miss Helen Hoxmeier preceded their brother, Dominic.
