Read More	Alton Democrat; June 5, 1947 St Louis Dentist Dies At Home In Alton Dr. Nicholas Hoxmeier of St. Louis died at four o'clock Sunday morning, June 1, at the home of his brother and sisters in Alton where he had been a patient since January receiving their devoted care. Nicholas T. Hoxmeier was born in Alton, Jan, 29, 1883, the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Hoxmeier, pioneer Alton residents. He attended St. Mary's Academy and later St. Louis University, where he graduated in dentistry. After graduation he was an instructor at the University for five years, then opened an office in St. Louis where he practiced until his last illness. Although in ill health for the past eleven years and often in the hospital he persevered in his successful dental practice. Last summer Dr. Hoxmeier's Pliysician summoned his brother here, D. T. Hoxmeier, to his bedside and the latter expected to bring him to Alton at that time, but he rallied and in a short time resumed his practice. In January he was again taken ill and accompanied his brother to the family home here where he received every attention. He is survived by two brothers and five sisters, namely, M. T. Hoxmeier of Los Angeles, Sister M. Claire, Briarclift College, Sioux City; Sister M. Jeanne, Mr. St. Francis Convent, Dubuque; Susan, Dominic, Mary and Clara of Alton, surviving; members of a family of 13 children. Henry, an invalid brother, Bernard (Decken), Helen and Margaret preceded him in death, together with three children who died in infancy. Dr. Hoxmeier was a member of the Missouri State and American Dental Associations, belonged to a dental fraternity at the University and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Dr. Hoxmeier will be greatly missed by his family here and by many friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday at St. Mary's Church with burial in the parish cemetery.
