Read More	Glasco Sun, June 9, 1977, page 1: Don Davidson Funeral June 4 Funeral services for Don Davidson were held Saturday, June 4, 1977, at 10:30 A.M., in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco. Pastors Wendell Berggren and Dean Donner conducted the service. Don William Davidson, son of William Alfred and Arvilla Davidson, was born May 3, 1908, on a farm northeast of Simpson, Kansas, in Cloud County. He departed this life June 1, 1977, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Concordia. He attended Fairview Rural School and was graduated from Simpson High School in 1928. On Dec. 24, 1931, he was united in marriage to Mabel M. Purvis at Hebron, Nebr. To this union were born two daughters, Marilyn Parrish, Perryton, Tex., and Jolene Griest, Glasco. He lived on a farm five miles northwest of Glasco until 1946 when the family moved to the present home site 1 1/2 miles northwest of Glasco. He continued as a wheat grower and stockman until his retirement in 1974. Don was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Glasco, the Beloit Elks Club, Beloit Country Club and was a charter member of the Glasco Country Club and later ran the pro-shop in Glasco for several years. Don thoroughly enjoyed all sports -- basketball, football, golf, then on his retirement spent many a peaceful hour camping and fishing. He was a loving father and husband and leaves to mourn his passing, besides his wife and two daughters, two sons in law, Lyle Parrish, Perryton, Tex., and Reed Griest, Glasco; six grandchildren, Mrs. Suzy Wilson and husband Steve, Perryton, Tex.; Miss Rana Parrish, Lubbock, Tex.; Don Griest and wife, Karen, Tamera, Stacy and DeeDee, all of Glasco; two great grandchildren, Misha Rana and Steven Brett Wilson of Perryton, Tex. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Verna Bush, Long beach, Calif., and Mrs. Evelyn Newland and husband Virgil of Salina; two brothers, Bryan and wife, Thelma, and Leland and wife, Margaret, of Simpson; a sister-in-law, Irene Davidson; three nephews and two nieces. His parents and a brother, Paul, preceded him in death. He had a host of friends who will miss his gentle humor and thoughtfulness.(poem followed) Pallbearers were Oran Sams, Bill Cool, Marvin Chapman, Roy Lavy, Robert Teasley and Max Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Jean Noel, Sr., Lowell Nutland, Leland Chapin, Bill Kimmerling, John Brock, Dan Williamson, Lester Hanson, Louie Bonneau, Denzel Adams, Denny Martin, Don Peiffer, Lance Nichols, Dick Arrighi, and Loyd Wyatt. Organist was Virginia Halderson and singers were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martin. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery.
