Description	:	Don Klein was born in 1932, the son of Joseph Klein. He had one brother, Ed. He grew up near Lewis, Iowa and graduated from Griswold High School in 1950, a classmate of his future wife, Velma. While Velma was valedictorian of his class, Don told a friend that he thought you could get "good-enough grades" without having to get great grades! He grew up near Lewis, Iowa and graduated from Griswold High School in 1950, a classmate of his future wife, Velma. While Velma was valedictorian of his class, Don told a friend that he thought you could get "good-enough grades" without having to get great grades! In 1953, while Don was stationed in Kentucky, Don and Velma lost their first child, Kathryn Jo Klein, who lived for only 5 days, and the mother (Velma) also was critically ill. But they were determined to have a family, and in 1955, to their great joy, they became parents to a son, Joseph Donald, followed by his younger sister, Teresa Lynn in 1958. Don's Air Force career took his family many places around the world, including South Carolina, Japan and New York, before his retirement in 1972. At that time, Don and Velma moved back to the Midwest, settling in Omaha, Nebraska.
