Description	:	DONALD EDMOND RENKEN, son of Edmond and Celeste Dawson Renken, was born September 18, 1934, in Enon, Missouri and departed this life March 21, 2010, at his home in Battlefield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years. Don, as he was known to family and friends, was united in marriage with the "love of his life" Lila Sue Spratt, on August 21, 1955. To this union was born two sons, and four daughters. Read More	DONALD EDMOND RENKEN, son of Edmond and Celeste Dawson Renken, was born September 18, 1934, in Enon, Missouri and departed this life March 21, 2010, at his home in Battlefield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years. Don, as he was known to family and friends, was united in marriage with the "love of his life" Lila Sue Spratt, on August 21, 1955. To this union was born two sons, and four daughters. Prior to his passing, Don and Lila celebrated fifty-four loving years together. Don attended Russellville High School and graduated in 1951. After graduation he attended Ozark Bible College, where he graduated in 1955, and began his lifelong dedication to the ministry. His first experience as a pastor began in 1953, while he was a college student. After marrying Lila, his ministry spanned over the next fifty-six years. Ministering in Hume, Missouri; Thayer, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri; Eugene, Oregan; Lebanon, Missouri; Wilsonville, Oregan; Eldon, Missouri; and finally retiring in 2009, from Phillipsburg Christian Church, as the associate pastor. After retirement, he did interim ministries at Urich and Walker, Missouri. Don led his life as a devout Christian and dedicated prayer warrior. Most recently, since retiring from the ministry, Don worked as an ambassador for Shadel's Colonial Chapel. His co-workers and employers treasured the moments they shared with him and the daily testimony he displayed. Although Don seemed to "work" all the time, that's what made him happy. He was greatly fulfilled when helping others. He was often lovingly referred to as "Mr. Fix-It." The people that had the pleasure of knowing Don considered him a wonderful blessing to their lives. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Lila; two sons, Larry Renken of Springfield, MO, and Roger Renken and his wife Judy of Carthage, MO; four daughters, Karen Jackson of Tulsa, OK, Kay Williams and her husband Kent of Purcellville, VA; Kathy Bryson and her husband George of Welches, OR, and Vicki Banks of Springfield, MO; two brothers, Gayle Renken and his wife Janet of Centertown, MO, and Keith Renken and his wife Jill of Russellville, MO; four sisters, Frances Engelbrecht of Eugene, MO, Deloyce Barry of California, MO, Elaine Morris and her husband Danny, also of Eugene, MO and Janice Theroff and her husband Clyde of Columbia, MO; nineteen grandchildren, Christopher, Clinton, Corey, Courtney, Nicole and Brooke Renken, Lindsay and Blake Jackson, Gabriel and Joel Williams, Jessie, Jonathan and Jay Swartout, Waylon, Nicole, and Tyler Bryson, Brettni and Gered High and Allie Banks; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Swartout and Grayson Renken; other relatives, many church families and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Harold Barry and Curt Engelbrecht. Don led a life of inspiration and testimony. Every word he spoke was sincere and heartfelt. The lives he touched throughout his ministry are numerous. He was a "people person" in every sense of the word and once he entered your life, you never forgot the positive influence he had, if even through a brief conversation. Although we will miss him, he woke up in Heaven.
