She was born at the Little Flower Hospital in Canton, Ohio, on April 28, 1933. She was the beloved daughter of Clarence Stoffer and Ethel Miller Stoffer of Salem, Ohio; loving mother to her cherished only son Dayne Popa of Salem, Ohio and Delray Beach, Florida; loving sister to her (late) brother Larry Stoffer and beloved aunt to her niece Gina Renee Kaye of Las Vegas, Nevada and her nephew Trae Scott Stoffer of Las Vegas, Nevada. Donna graduated from Salem Senior High School – Class of 1951 and was involved in the women’s athletic programs, including the G.A.A. - Girls Athletic Association. As a mother, she was a huge influencer and supporter of her son’s athletic career, which made her an All-Star mother for the entire Quaker Nation and Penguin Nation. Her career started at Haldi’s Shoe Store in downtown Salem, then progressed as a long term telephone operator with Ohio Bell and AT&T for 30+ years. Donna was a beloved member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and conducted church readings. She was an active member of the Red Hat Club and the Christian Women’s Club. She enjoyed dancing, singing and pantomiming and brought joy and love to all that she touched. Donna’s most treasured things were her son Dayne, friends, family and the entire Salem community which provided them with love and support throughout the years. All are welcome to attend calling hours at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at 1014 East State Street, Salem, Ohio 44460. The Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at 1089 East State Street, Salem, Ohio 44460, which includes burial at the Hope Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.
