Description	:	UPLAND -- Donna S. (Walz) Howard, 40, 557 S. Main St., died at 6 a.m. Sunday in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, where she had been a patient for seven days. She was born in Hartford City to Fred and Carol (Marsh) Walz, who survive in Upland. In 1989, in Upland United Methodist Church, she married Michael Howard, who survives. Prior to that,... Read More	UPLAND -- Donna S. (Walz) Howard, 40, 557 S. Main St., died at 6 a.m. Sunday in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, where she had been a patient for seven days. She was born in Hartford City to Fred and Carol (Marsh) Walz, who survive in Upland. In 1989, in Upland United Methodist Church, she married Michael Howard, who survives. Mrs. Howard was a lifelong resident of Upland and graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1977. She had been most recently employed as a secretary at Randall Miller & Associates, Muncie. Prior to that, she was a secretary at the Grant County Drainage Board and the Hodson Dining Commons at Taylor University. She was a member of Upland Euchre Club and the Jefferson Township Ball League Coach's Pitch. She had been a girls softball coach for the Avis Industrials team. She is also survived by a son, Michael Gene Downam, at home; a daughter, Klara, at home, a sister, Joan (Mrs. Craig) Stanley, Upland; a brother, Frederick "Fritz" (Lori) Walz Jr., Van Buren; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Everett and Janet, Hartford City; an aunt, Sondra (Mrs. Glee) Berryhill, Marion; an uncle, Don (Mary) Walz, Upland; one grandmother-in-law, Helen Wright, Hartford City; one sister-in-law, Mari, Hartford City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., with the Rev. Bill Walda officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital through the funeral home. Marion Chronicle-Tribune, Monday, 1 Nov 1999
