Description	:	Dorence O. Schliesser, 94, of Defiance died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Fulton County Health Center. He was born September 17, 1920 in Adams Township, Defiance, Ohio to the late George and Annette (Nagel) Schliesser. He married Rita Elchinger on June 18, 1955 at St. Michael's Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2011. Dorence attended Ridgeville school. He was... Read More	Dorence O. Schliesser, 94, of Defiance died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Fulton County Health Center. He was born September 17, 1920 in Adams Township, Defiance, Ohio to the late George and Annette (Nagel) Schliesser. He married Rita Elchinger on June 18, 1955 at St. Michael's Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2011. Dorence attended Ridgeville school. He was a lifetime livestock and grain farmer. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, he rang the church bell till he was 93 years old, and also held various church offices. He was a former Northeastern local school board member, lifetime Tinora athletic booster, helped run the Tinora football chain-gang for 35 years, former Adams Township zoning board member, former farm service agency committee men member, former member of the Henry County Antique Tractor club, and in 2013 was inducted into the Defiance County Agricultural Hall of Fame. In his younger years, he played baseball for the St. Mike's baseball team. He enjoyed watching kids and his grandkids playing sports and was a huge Tinora Rams fan and was also a big Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed watching the crops grow, checking up on the boys, and taking the dogs for a truck ride. He is survived by his sons, Randy (Sheri) and Jack (Sharon) Schliesser; daughter, Sally Schliesser; 3 grandchildren; sister, Lucile Erbskorn; brother, George Schliesser, Jr., all of Defiance. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Weisenburger, Helen Goodwin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Defiance with Pastor Robbie Ketcham officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Defiance, St. Michael's Catholic Church, or donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.rodenbergerfuneralhome.com
