She was born March 25, 1916, in Winslow to Julius and Flossie (Duncan) Packer. She grew up in Winslow and attended grade school at Winslow. She was a 1933 graduate of Hooper High School. She was born March 25, 1916, in Winslow to Julius and Flossie (Duncan) Packer. She grew up in Winslow and attended grade school at Winslow. She was a 1933 graduate of Hooper High School. She married Kenneth S. Nelson on Nov. 17, 1934, in Hooper. After her marriage, the couple lived on a farm 3/4 of a mile northwest of Hooper. They moved into Hooper in 1985. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2004. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper where she taught Sunday school, was church pianist for 15 years and held offices in the ladies aid. She was a member of Elkhorn View Extension Club and was president for 25 years. She taught piano lessons for 12 years. She was a former member of Dodge County 4-H Foundation and was secretary for two years. She was a former Dodge County Extension Board member for four years. She was a former president of Band Mother's for one year and was a former chairman of the Red Cross Blood Drive for six years. Survivors include: two sons, Lyman (and wife, Judy J.) Nelson of Hooper and Dale (and wife, Gina) Nelson of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Mildred N. Bunnell of Roseburg, Ore.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper with the Rev. Susan Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church.
