Description	:	Dorothy Mae Loss Buerkley, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, June 2, 2007. She was born on Dec. 2, 1923, the third of five children born to Herbert Loss and Linna Lonergan Loss of Osage, Iowa. Read More	Dorothy Mae Loss Buerkley, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, June 2, 2007. She was born on Dec. 2, 1923, the third of five children born to Herbert Loss and Linna Lonergan Loss of Osage, Iowa. As a young child, her family moved to Billings, where her schooling began, culminating in graduation from Billings Senior High School class of 1941. Dorothy was united in marriage to Walter H. Buerkley on July 27, 1942. To this union, two sons were born, Clyde and Harold. Dorothy often reminisced of her teen years working on a dude ranch near Cooke City as a wrangler. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed the ranch life. She eventually settled on a career as a waitress, working at the General Custer, where her customers affectionately called her Dot. She traveled extensively with her husband and often boasted of golfing from coast to coast. Besides golf, Dorothy was an avid bowler, loved collecting coins and spending time with the grandkids. Perhaps her fondest memories were all the camping and fishing trips she enjoyed with the family. She always seemed to have just the right lure for catching fish with a tackle box that would make most tackle shops envious. When the fish had lockjaw, she had the key. She also took great pride in her gardening, especially her rose garden that Walt loved so much. She will be missed by all. Her husband, Walt, preceded her in death, as did all her siblings. She is survived by her two sons; her grandchildren, Clyde Jr., Travis (Rhonda), Trevor (Stephanie) and Shylain (Chris); and great-grandchildren Brockelynn, Brenton, Brayden, Boady and Brystal. Her pet cat Krissy also misses her greatly. Visitations will begin Wednesday morning, June 6, at Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St., with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
