He was born April 19, 1934 in the Talley Store Community of Chester County, the son of the late Riley Allen (R.A.) and Ruth Augusta Sewell Talley. He graduated from Chester County High School in 52. He was born April 19, 1934 in the Talley Store Community of Chester County, the son of the late Riley Allen (R.A.) and Ruth Augusta Sewell Talley. He graduated from Chester County High School in 52. He farmed in the Talley Store Community all his life. He and his dad operated Talley's Gin. He married Shirley Smith in 1973. They made their home at Talley Town. He worked at American Olean Tile in Jackson. He had served as a director at Chester County Bank and as a director at Chester Farmer's Co-op. He was a member of the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Talley is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Smith Talley of Henderson; two sons, Dossie Talley, Jr. (Regina) and Chad Talley (Hollie) all of Henderson and two daughters, Sophia Antwine (John) and Celia Murley (Rickey) all of Henderson; eight grandchildren; Kassie Talley, Reece Marchbanks (Lauren), Briggs, Annabelle and Reagan Tomilson, Craig Murley(Renee), Clay Murley (Shondra), and Clint Murley (Amber) and seven great grandchildren; Lazurie Talley, Will and Kate Murley, Corey and Ella Murley, and Riley and Bailey Murley. He is also survived by a niece, Ann VanCleave Shearon (Tommy) of Jackson; and two nephews, B. J. VanCleave (Pat) of Chesterfield and Gene Allen VanCleave of Ormond Beach, FL He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joanne Talley VanCleave on January 31, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 12th, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
