Doug left us for his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at the age of 79 in Centralia, Wash. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Wall) and four children and their spouses, Steve (Jan), Mike (Linda), Joel (Robin) and Maria (Joe) Tatman, along with 11 grandchildren, Majalise, Shaugn, Garienn, Jason, Gabriel, Mandy, Kelsie, Noah, Lindsey, Raymond and Ryan, as well as many great-grandchildren. Doug also leaves behind a sister, Wilma "Jean" Homan and brothers, Randall and Clayton, several cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rexford, Donald, Terry and Acie. Doug worked most of his life as a meat cutter for various grocery stores in Southwest Washington. After retiring, he devoted his time to both church and family. He never tired of running to the activities his grandkids took part in and they knew that he would be somewhere in the audience cheering them on. Doug was actively involved in the First Christian Church, often serving as a deacon or elder. He was a man that could be counted on, always available for visiting shut-ins, helping with projects or greeting people at the door as they arrived to church. Following a 1:00 p.m. small graveside service at the Washington Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, there will be an informal reception for Doug at the First Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to American Alzheimer's Association or your favorite charity.
