Born in South Williamston, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Everett and Addie (Nickerson) Crowell. He was past district deputy grand master of Evangeline Masonic Lodge, No. 94; member of Valley Lodge, No. 53, IOOF; Valley Rose Rebekah Lodge, No. 126 and Philadelphia Lodge, Barrington. He operated D.S. Crowell General Store, Woods Harbour for 15 years. He was former municipal councillor and school board member, Municipality of Barrington; member of Board of Trustees, Lawrencetown School and an active member of Lawrencetown United Baptist Church. He was employed at Beaver Fruit Co-op, Lawrencetown for 25 years and was a retired member of Lawrencetown Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, the former Faye Lowe; two daughters, Kathrin (Mrs. Raoul Jenner), New Minas; Penny (Mrs. Donald Simms), Dartmouth; two sons, Kim, Donald, both of Lawrencetown; two sisters, Pauline (Mrs. Bruce Marling), Raynardton, Yarmouth County; Irene (Mrs. Victor Smith), Shag Harbour; brother, Albert (Bob), Woods Harbour; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Henry, Donald in infancy. The body is in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lawrencetown United Baptist Church, Dr. Phillip Griffin-Allwood officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations may be made to Lawrencetown United Baptist Church Ramp Fund.
