Wallace was born near Weldon, Iowa, in Clarke county, October 11, 1877. Died August 31, 1933, Age 55 years, 10 months and 20 days. He passed away at his home east of Weldon in Green Bay township, having lived all his life in the home where he was born. His parents were John M. Wallace and Perscilla Westfall Wallace, who moved from Knox county, Illinois, and built this home east of Weldon in 1868. Here on this farm with his parents, brothers and sisters, he spent a delightful childhood and grew to manhood. He received his education at the district school at Hebron, after which he and his twin brother, Fred E. engaged in farming with their father up to the time of their father's death in 1907. After this these two brothers continued in partnership, farming their own land and also the home farm. Edgar made his home with his mother up to the time of her death in 1916. The loyalty and fidelity existing between these two brothers was something remarkable. After his mother's death Edgar purchased the old home place. On February 23, 1921, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Price and continued to live on this farm up to the time of his death. About six years ago he united with the Methodist church at Weldon and has been a member in good standing in that church ever since. His parents, his daughter Evalin Ruth, two sisters, Ella H. Jamison and Jennie E. Wade, having preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn their loss his beloved wife Mary E. Wallace, his daughter, Eula Lorene, four brothers, Fred E., John E., Frank C., and G. W. Hall, all of Weldon. He also leaves two nieces, eight nephews, seven sisters-in-law, nine brothers-in-law and his aged father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Price, besides other relatives and a host of friends. He was a kind father, being a favorite with children. A loving husband and a friend to all. He was a successful farmer and a useful citizen and will be greatly missed in the commuity in which he lived. He had a cozy and comfortable little home surrounded by many of the embellishments that go to make life worth living. When the Grim Reaper stalks into such a home how hard to say it is well. He played well and faithfully his part in life's great drama. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church by his pastor, Rev. E. J. Zumsteg, Sunday, September 3, 1933, burial in the Hebron cemetery. The casket was banked with beautiful flowers, a tribute of peace from those whom he loved.
