Description	:	Edgar Marshall Farnsworth was born in the now extinct town of Hamilton on the Mower/Fillmore county border in southeastern, Minnesota, the 3rd child born to the blacksmith Marshall M. and Mary (Payne) Farnsworth. Edgar grew to adulthood in Hamilton, learning the blacksmith trade from his father. He married the local girl Elizabeth Jane Stiles in Hamilton on November 28, 1900. Elizabeth gave birth to their first son Bertrude Marshall Farnsworth at nearby Racine, Minnesota in August 1901. Elizabeth gave birth to their first son Bertrude Marshall Farnsworth at nearby Racine, Minnesota in August 1901. In 1902 Edgar and Elizabeth, along with his parents and younger brothers Colonel and Elwin Farnsworth moved to Edgeley, LaMoure County, North Dakota. Marshall assisted Edgar in starting a blacksmith and welding business in Edgeley, an occupation which Edgar pursued until retiring in 1949. Edgar was a prominent member in the community life of Edgeley, a member of the Methodist Church, and served as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years. He died on Dec. 8, 1957 at the State Hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota. Besides Bertrude, Edgar and Elizabeth Farnsworth had five other children born in Edgeley: Ethel (Salisbury), Alice (Young Meriwether), Isabel (Studebaker Patton Greenwood), Marion (Brown Bradley), and Edgar Stiles Farnsworth.
