Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, at Nelson-Boylan chapel. Mrs. England died Saturday, January 2, 1999, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold after an extended illness. She was born August 21, 1907, near Elliott to Warren A. and Lulu (Thomas) DeVoss. She attended school and graduated from Elliott High School in 1925. She was united in marriage to Billy England in Red Oak February 12, 1929. They farmed in the Elliott and Griswold areas until his death. Mrs. England then moved to Red Oak and remained active, working at the Woolsworth's Store, the medical records department of Mongomery County Memorial Hospital, and the Thomas D. Murphy Calendar Company. She had also worked part-time for John K. Petersen's Law Office and the Iowa Job Service in Red Oak. She loved music and most all her life she played the piano at church groups and other organizations along with playing dance music all over southwest Iowa. She also accompanied her grandchildren in many school music contests. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy England, January 10, 1962, brother Keith DeVoss; and a grandson, Patrick McCunn. Survivors include a son, Dr. B. J. England of Griswold, two daughter, Mary Lou McCunn, and her husband, Ellis, of Red Oak, and Laura Reimer and her husband, Robert, of Oakland; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
