Newspaper Obituary- "The Spirit Lake Beacon" Sep 17- 1959 OBITUARIES Mrs. George Stammer Edna Mary Dorsey, daughter of Emma Olive Jones Dorssy and 'Martin James Dorsey, was born May 13, 1894 at Drakesville, Iowa,' in Davis County. The family moved to Emmet County when she was about six years old'and resided there for seventeen years. Moving with her parents to Las Anamus, Colo, in/March of 1917. George Stammer of Estherville joined her there and they were wed at LaJunta, Colo., Aug. 8, 1917. Stammers returned to Estherville vicinity where George was employed by the Rock Island Railroad for seven years and then started farming in 1928 in the Estherville community. To this union ten children were born. Six boys and four girls. In March, 1939, the Stammers purchased their present farm which is nine miles northwest of Spirit Lake, where they've made their home for the- past 20 years. She passed away suddenly in her sleep from a heart attack Sunday morning, Aug. 30, 1959 at the age of 65 years, 3 mbnths and 18 days. Mrs. Stammer, was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, one sister, and two sons; Ralph, killed in the war in 1945 and Clifford, 1946. All six sons served in the service at one time or another. Her departure is deeply mourned by her sister, Pearle Jones of Las Vegas, Nev., her husband, George, and eight children, four sons and four daughters. James, Harold, Lloyd, all of Spirit Lake, Everett of Lakefield, Minn.; Marion Anderson, Evelyn Kilpatrick of Abingdon, Ill., Irene Schoonover, Canton, Ill., Mildred Reiter of Perry, Iowa, and twenty-three grandchildren, one great-grandchlid, besides many relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were cosducted at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Virgil Peterson officiating, Sept. 2, 1959, and burial was in Lakeview Cemetery. She expressed her faith by being baptised and by joining the Christian Church at Estherville, Iowa.
