Description	:	Obituary Effie Grooms Taylor Effie Ellen Taylor was born February 21, 1895 in Sparks, Nebraska. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Grooms, later moved to Valentine. She married Richard A. Taylor December 24, 1916 in Valentine. Effie was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and was active in community affairs. She died August 14, 1977 in Hawthorne, California. For fifteen years before her retirement at age 75, she had worked at the Hawthorne Hospital. She was previously employed by the Bell Telephone company for 8 years, and during a brief return to Valentine, worked for 3 years at the Sandhills... Taylor December 24, 1916 in Valentine. Effie was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and was active in community affairs. She died August 14, 1977 in Hawthorne, California. Effie worked hard and well to care for people's needs. Richard and Effie had one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Chloe) Ellington, of El Segundo, California, two grandsons: Mr. and Mrs. James (Carolyn) Ellington, of Canoga Park, California, and Robert Ellington, of El Segundo; and one granddaughter, Charlene Rene. Effie was preceded in death by her husband, by one brother and one sister. Other survivors include: her sister, Rosie Allen, of Valentine; her brother Fred Grooms, Valentine; sister Goldie Epke, Valentine; and sister Lottie Sims, of Omaha, Nebraska. She leaves many happy memories and memories of helpful deeds behind for her family and many friends in Cherry County and in California. Services were August 20 at Watts Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Carbaugh in charge. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
