Wills yesterday afternoon was learned with more poignancy of grief even than inevitably attends the passing of a good woman and mother. Incomprehensible to mortal ken is the removal from the sphere where she was so vitally needed of a woman like Mrs. Wills. She was the mother of eleven, and a grandmother, although she was not yet thirty-nine years of age. Eight children in the home were dependant upon her for care, for provision of their daily needs and the guidance in the principles of right living. All these were poured from the abundance of her mother heart, now stilled, and her ever busy hands, so quick in the service of her dear ones, are strangely quiet and folded. With her in death lies the babe of yesterday, the little one whose coming she welcomed although she had been warned that giving life once more would cost her own. Mrs. Wills lived and died in humble circumstances, yet she was great, for nine living children have derived their inspiration from her, and in their individual ways, are living as their mother taught, doing as she would have them do, scattering in imitation of her example the cheerfulness and sunshine which characterized her, and which hardship and suffering never had the power to quench. Mrs. Wills had not been well for some time. She was afflicted with goitre, realized its seriousness and hoped, when things grew a little easier, to have an operation for its removal. Even on Saturday, when she visited with a sister, Mrs. Wills steadfastly refused to complain. On Sunday she grew suddenly and alarmingly ill. A physician was called who immediately took her to the hospital. Convulsions followed, and her baby came, stillborn. Every effort was made, unavailingly, to save her life, and without regaining consciousness, she passed away shortly after one o'clock yesterday afternoon. Courageously, as she met life, she entered death. Effie Ethel Hillan was born on June 16, 1886, at Glasco, Kansas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hillan. She was married to Oliver B. Wills, on September 16, 1903, at Minneapolis. Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wills and family came to live in Beloit, where Mr. Wills was employed by the Union Pacific at that time. Mrs. Wills is survived by her parents, husband, and nine children: Mrs. Leota Wagner, Margaret Beulah, Ray, Paul, Genevieve, Rose Zella, Elizabeth, and Robert, all of Beloit. These sisters and brothers are living: Mrs. Eaton Brooks of Concordia; Mrs. Carl Hunter, Scottsville; Mrs. Chas. Robertson, Simpson; Beatrice Hillan and Guy Hillan, Glasco. --- Tuesday's Beloit Call The senior class of Beloit high school, and the girls' basketball team, both of which Miss Margaret Wills is member, attended the services in a body, with the exception eight senior boys, who acted as pall bearers, and the senior girls, who took charge of the flowers. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the First Christian church, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Arthur G. Bell, pastor.
