Harris Dies on Saturday Elbert Theodore Harris, a resident of the Loma section since 1916, passed away at his home in Loma at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 28th, following an illness extending over the past two years. Immediate cause of death was strangulated hernia. His passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends throughout Chouteau county. Elbert Theodore Harris was born in Illinois, Dec. 17, 1875, and spent his early life in Iowa, where after reaching early manhood he was employed in coal mining and also worked on Iowa farms for some time. He was united in marriage on April 7, 1897, to Miss Daisy Mackey, at Albia, Iowa, where they resided until coming to Montana and Chouteau county in 1916. They took up a homestead about six miles northwest of Loma and farmed there until 1930 when they moved into Loma where they have continued to reside. For a number of years, starting about 1928, he conducted a stores in Loma. After disposing of his store interests he worked at various jobs as his health would permit. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Lloyd Harris, Polson; Berry Harris, Elmo, Mont.; Henry Harris, Mrs. Abigail Johnson, Mrs. Lucille LeFurgey, Mrs. Helen Stallcup and Mrs. Maxine Bessette, all of Loma; Mrs. Pearl Perry, Lucas, Iowa; and Mrs. Elva Rea, Reed Point, Mont.; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Howard, Denver, and Mrs. Annie Johnson, Wheatland, Wyo.; and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the Benton Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services were attended by many old time friends and neighbors who gathered to pay their last respects to a departed neighbor and friend. Burial was made in the family plot in Riverside cemetery.
