Description	:	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 11 Nov 1981 Elva Owens Dies of Exposure Elva Owens, 70, resident of Sunrise Bluffs, died of hypothermia (exposure) according to a coroner's report. She had been reported missing from the Sunrise Bluffs and her body was located in shallow water of the Missouri River about 24 hours later. Officials reported she was walking near the river when she either slipped or fell down the embankment into the river. She apparently was unable to climb the bank to safety. Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 11 Nov 1981 Elva Owens Dies of Exposure Elva Owens, 70, resident of Sunrise Bluffs, died of hypothermia (exposure) according to a coroner's report. She had been reported missing from the Sunrise Bluffs and her body was located in shallow water of the Missouri River about 24 hours later. Officials reported she was walking near the river when she either slipped or fell down the embankment into the river. She apparently was unable to climb the bank to safety. Temperatures were in the mid-teens Thursday night. Mrs. Owens' death has been ruled and accidental death by authorities. Elva Harris was born Feb. 2, 1911, at Everest, Iowa, daughter of E. T. and Daisy Mackey Harris, and moved with her family to Montana in 1916. The family homesteaded at Loma. Elva attended schools in Fort Benton where she graduated from high school. She lived in this area most of her life. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marylin Hardenbrook. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Owens, Stanford; sons, Harold LeMond, Coffee Creek; Denny Rae, Billings and Mike Rae, Sidney; four daughters, Eleanor Waters, Seeley Lake; Duana Weinrich, Billings; Merle Ridenour, Broadus, and Berta Rae, Lewistown; five sisters, Lucille LeFurgey, Fort Benton; Mrs. Warren Johnson, Maxine Bessette and Helen Stallcup, all of Loma, and Pearl Perry, Chariton, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services were this afternoon at Riverside Cemetery.
