Obituary - Eleanor Miriam Horkman Eleanor Miriam Horkman, 72, Topeka, died Saturday, Dec 28, 1991, at a Topeka hospital. She was a sales clerk for Crosby Brother's Department Store from 1939 to 1942 and from 1966 to 1975. She was a file clerk for Santa Fe Railroad from 1942 to 1947. She worked at Wolf Jewelers from 1975 until she retired in 1982. She was born Oct 21, 1919, in New Castle, Colo., the daughter of George B and Sadie Atkinson Amsbury. She moved to Topeka in 1922 and graduated from Topeka High School in 1939. She had attended Grace Episcopal Church and was a member of St Phillips Episcopal Church. She was a member of Monroe N.I.A., Topeka High School Historical Society, and Crosby Retirees Luncheon Group, all of Topeka. She was married to Samuel J Horkman April 6, 1946, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Samuel D Horkman, Topeka, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Newcomer Differderfer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorials Park Cemetery. Mrs. Horkman will lie in state from noon today until service time Thursday at the funeral home. She was a sales clerk for Crosby Department Store, a file derk for Santa Fe Railroad, returned to Crosby Bros, in 1966 where she was employed until the' 1966 where she was employed until they closed in 1975, then worked for Wolf Jewelers until her retirement in 1982. She was baptized, confirmed and married married at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, and was a member of St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, both of Topeka. She was a member of Monroe N.I.A., Topeka High School Historical Society, and Crosby Retirees Luncheon Group. She is survived by her husband, son, Samuel D. Horkman of Topeka; two grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Newcomer- Diffenderfer Chapel, Topeka, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
