Read More	Eliza Jane Murphy was born October 4, 1890 in Elk Co., KS to Lewis and Ida Myers. She grew up in Elk Co. and on Feb. 17, 1909, she married Harrison E. Murphy and with him raised a fine family. During her life she was a faithful member of the Church of Christ of which she has been a member since 1921. She lived around Howard all her married life until a few years ago when she moved to Eugene, Oregon, where she lived with her daughter, Grace. She departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1977 in Eugene, OR. Jane will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Sgt. Harrison Murphy of Manhattan, KS: and Archie Murphy of Salem, OR; four daughters, Mrs. Gracie Newingham of Eugene, OR, Mrs. Bonnie Vail of Waterville, KS., Mrs. Violet Lawson of Manhattan, KS., and Mrs. Virgie Stanley of Springfield, OR; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Munster of Sacramento, CA, and Mrs. Susie Campbell of Lincoln, CA; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Harrison E., a son Harold E. and a daughter, Rozella. Funeral services in Howard were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 1977 in the Spurrier Funeral Home Chapel. Bernard Smith of Howard Church of Christ officiated at the services with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taliaferro providing the vocal music. Mrs. Helen Vinette was the organist. The casket beareres were Bill Nigh, Wayne Murphy, Doug Murphy, Dennis Lawson, Jerry Hull and Barry Linn. Services were directed by the Spurrier Funeral Home.
