Description	:	Eliza Whitby was born in Yoxford, Suffolk County, England. She was Christened at the Saint Peter's Anglican Church there on the 13th of February, 1820. She was the daughter of Noah Whitby, who had been a sailor in His Majesty's Navy, and his wife, Sarah Spore. In the mid 1830's the Whitby family sailed for Prince Edward Island, Canada. The family settled in Queens County, Prince Edward Island, in the area of Cornwall and DeSable. She was Christened at the Saint Peter's Anglican Church there on the 13th of February, 1820. She was the daughter of Noah Whitby, who had been a sailor in His Majesty's Navy, and his wife, Sarah Spore. In the mid 1830's the Whitby family sailed for Prince Edward Island, Canada. The family settled in Queens County, Prince Edward Island, in the area of Cornwall and DeSable. On the 31st of May, 1845, Eliza Whitby married John McLean, who was from a Scottish family that lived on the South Shore of Prince Edward Island. The John and Eliza McLean family moved to Kent County New Brunswick in the 1860's. First to Richibucto, and then to Saint Louis de Kent. John and Eliza were living with their son Angus at the time of their deaths, in the small village of Bass River. They both died in 1896. First John on the 27th of June, 1896. and Eliza five months later on the 14th of November 1896. We believe they are buried here at Browns yard, which is just a few miles from Bass River, and where some of there Grandchildren and daughter-in-Law, Lavinia Delaney McLean is buried.
