Description	:	John McLean was born in Prince Edward Island on March 2, 1824 (according to his death certificate). As of this writing (March 2020) we do not know who his parents were. We first find mention of John McLean in his marriage record to Eliza Whitby on March 31, 1845. In that record, He states he is from the South Shore of the Island. We know that he was of Scottish heritage, and his family was probably among the many early Scottish settlers to PEI. John and Eliza's children were all born on the Island. In... We first find mention of John McLean in his marriage record to Eliza Whitby on March 31, 1845. In that record, He states he is from the South Shore of the Island. We know that he was of Scottish heritage, and his family was probably among the many early Scottish settlers to PEI. John and Eliza's children were all born on the Island. In the early 1860's, the family moved across the Northumberland Strait to Kent County, New Brunswick. They lived in the villages of Richibucto, and Saint Louis de Kent. At the end of their lives, John and Eliza were living with their son Angus McLean, and his family in the village of Bass River. Bass River is just a little over three miles from the Brown's Yard cemetery. John died on June 27th 1896. His wife Eliza Whitby, died five months later.
