Description	:	Elizabeth's inscription is on the west side of an obelisk that she shares with her husband, Beniah, and her children Austin and Olive. Her daughter Lady also has a cenotaph inscription on this obelisk; she is buried in Row 22. Elizabeth was born in Fountain County, Indiana, to George Padgett and Catharine (Booker) Padgett. After George's death, Catharine was remarried to Jonathan Scott on March 13, 1838, in Fountain County. It is also interesting to note that Elizabeth's sister Matilda married Beniah's brother William M. Dimmitt. Sena, William M., and Matilda are all buried in the Ottumwa Cemetery. All of the children of Elizabeth & Beniah are linked to their memorials. The photograph on this memorial is of Elizabeth with her son Austin Dimmitt. This picture was sent to me by Bill Dimmitt of Tilton, Illinois. Bill is the great-great grandson of Beniah's brother, Robert Dimmitt. Obituary from, "Ottumwa Courier," November 16, 1904: CALLED BY DEATH MRS. ELIZABETH A. DIMMITT PASSES AWAY AT ADVANCED AGE OF 77 YEARS Was One of the Earliest Settlers of Wapello County Mrs. Elizabeth A. Dimmitt, one of the earliest settlers of Wapello County and a highly esteemed resident of this city, died last night at 12 o'clock at her home 318 West Maple Avenue. She was 77 years of age and had been a resident of Wapello County about sixty years. Elizabeth Ann Dimmitt was born February 25, 1827, in Fountain County, Indiana. She was united in marriage with Beniah Dimmitt, April 29, 1852. Mr. Dimmitt died February 11, 1875. Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt became the parents of eight children, Austin, Laura, Olive, Lincoln, Lady, Beniah, Samuel and Tolbert. The surviving children are Samuel of Highland Township, Laura and Beniah, 318 West Maple Avenue, Lincoln of Dahlonega Township and Tolbert of Chicago. Mrs. Dimmitt lived on the farm in Highland Township where she and her husband settled in 1849 until 1890 when she moved to Ottumwa. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church about fifty years ago. She has been an invalid for twenty-five years, patient and hopeful during her long suffering. The funeral will be conducted from the residence Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Round Point Cemetery.
