Carol is descended from William's sister Alice Weaver, and she found a copy of their 50th anniversary picture in her belongings. It was labeled "Uncle Bill and Aunt Till." Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier," February 16, 1924: MRS. M. DIMMITT, PIONEER, IS DEAD Mrs. Matilda Dimmitt, widow of William M. Dimmitt and a pioneer of this community, died at her home, 238[sic] West Woodland Avenue, at 6:55 o'clock Friday evening. She was almost 95 years old. Her survivors are her children, W.H. Dimmitt of Dahlonega, R.C. Dimmitt of Huntington Park, Cal., Mrs. Mary Long of Ottumwa, John D. Dimmitt of Ottumwa, Mrs. Filana Giltner of Dahlonega, and Miss Mattie Dimmitt at home, and Fred Dimmitt of Ottumwa. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the residence. Rev. R.H. Tharp of the First Baptist Church assisted by Mr. L.A. Swisher of the First Methodist Church, will be in charge, and burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Note: The correct address was 233 W. Woodland Avenue. Note: All of Matilda and William's children are linked to their memorials.
