Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at First Christian Church with Deborah Wick and Rev. Lee Hendon officiating. Inurn-ment will follow in Trinity Episcopal Church Gardens. Visitation with the family will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Her parents were Clifford W. and Claudia A. Fleiner Eiche. She attended Sumner Elementary School, graduating from Atchison High School in 1942. She and Harry A. Mier were united in marriage on June 27, 1944, at First Christian Church, Atchison. Mr. Mier preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2006. As a teenager, she was a fixture on the farmer's market in Atchison, selling produce from her family's farm. She later worked at the clerk's office in the Atchison County Courthouse, at North American Aviation in Kansas City, Kan., during World War II and at the federal government's Natural Cooler south of Atchison. She became co-owner of Thayer Supply company in 1955. A member of First Christian Church, she sang in the church's choir during most of her adult life. She was a constant attendee of her grandchildren's sporting events. For many years, she and her husband, along with the Delbert Ehrets, the David Lauries, and the Charles Campbells, hosted a July Fourth pancake breakfast that is well remembered by many in this community. She was a member of numerous bridge and poker clubs, enjoyed reading, sewing and going to the casino. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jo (David) Laincz, Atchison, Deborah Wick, Castle Rock, Colo., and Amy (Patrick) Regan, Atchison; a brother, Carl (Harriet) Eiche, Frankfort, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Eiche, Topeka; six grandchildren, Leah, Cara, Matt, Tobin, Kati and Adam; five great-grandchildren with two on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Eiche of Topeka.
