Read More	Glasco Sun July 7, 1949 Page 1: Eliza Flynn Hurley Dies Following Short Illness Eliza Flynn Hurley, a member of one of the county's most prominent pioneer families, passed away Thursday, June 30, at the family home in Glasco, Kansas, following an illness of five days, caused by cerebral hemorrhage. Elizabeth Frances Flynn was born in Meredith township, April 6, 1880, to James and Margaret Callahan Flynn, one of a family of eleven children, and departed this life on June 30, 1949, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 24 days. One of a family of four teaching sisters, she taught in Cloud county schools for seven years. On March 6, 1904, she was united in marriage to Timothy James Hurley. To this union two children were born: James Lawrence of Platte City, Mo., and Mary Louise Dillon, Glasco, Kansas. Mr. Hurley passed away January 1, 1909. This grief with the daily attacks of bronchial asthma for the last nine years never dampened her spirits. Mrs. Hurley was a gracious mother, friend, and neighbor, a great lover of children, also a deeply religious lady. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy, also Mrs. Mary Brunelle and Mrs. Cecilia Downey. Mrs. Hurley leaves to mourn her passing her two children, six grandchildren: Terence J. Dillon, Mary Jane Hurley, John F. Dillon, Jean L. Dillon, Charles Michael Dillon, and Timothy L. Hurley. Five sisters, Mrs. Lollie Letourneau, Mrs. Agnes Brunelle, Mrs. Kathryn Downey, and Mrs. Theresa Forshee, all of Aurora, Kansas, Mrs. Frances Richard, Delphos, Kansas, and one brother, Martin Flynn of Aurora, Kansas. Also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Anthony Bevak from the St. Mary's Catholic church, Glasco, Kansas, Saturday morning at nine o'clock July 2, 1949. Hymns were sung by St. Mary's choir. Pallbearers were James T. Butler, Thomas Butler, Louis Letourneau, Cecil Brunelle, Alcid Richard, and Lawrence Downey. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery with Chaput Funeral home in charge.
