In failing health for several years, she had been seriously ill for the past ten days. Requiem mass will be read at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Church, by her nephew, the Rev. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Saturday. The rosary will be led by Msgr. Vollmer at 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and there will be another rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Vollmer is survived by four daughters: Mrs. C.F. (Mabel) Reilly, Mrs. Loretta Anneberg, Mrs. Leola Carpenter and Mrs. Joe (Julia) Micka, all of Carroll; six grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two brothers: Mike Macke, Templeton, and John Macke, Oakland, Calif. She was born Nov. 27, 1871, at St. Cloud, Minn. As a child she moved with her parents, Frank and Julia Macke, to a farm south of Templeton, where she spent her childhood. She married John Vollmer at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton Jan. 21, 1890. After their marriage they farmed near Templeton until 1913. At that time they moved to Carroll, where Mr. Vollmer was employed by the Railway Express until his retirement in 1937. They continued to make their home in Carroll and Mr. Vollmer died Jan. 7, 1958. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Vollmer was preceded in death by one son in infancy; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Ellen) Schwenk; three brothers and two sisters. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church and the Christian Mother Sodality of the parish. Sept 26, 1961 - Carroll Daily Times - Final rites for Mrs. Elizabeth Vollmer, 89, resident of Carroll since 1913, were held Monday, Sept. 25. Requiem mass was offered by a nephew, the Rev. Richard J. Macke, Dayton, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. Another Nephew, the Very Rev. Msgr. Edward V. Vollmer, delivered the sermon and conducted graveside services in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were six nephews: A.J. Carlson, Leonard Macke, Louis Macke and Don Roecker, Carroll, Vincent Schwenk, Gilbert, and Paul Vollmer, Manning. Arrangements were in charge of the Sharp Funeral Home. Mrs. Vollmer, whose home was at 1403 North Carroll Street, died at her home Sept. 21, after being seriously ill for ten days and in failing health for several years. Out-of-town relatives attending the services included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schoeppner and Mike Macke, Templeton; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Macke, Audubon; Mrs. Harold Hunter, Mrs. Juhl Rowedder, Mrs. Paul Volquartsen, Mrs. Cletus McGrane, Mrs. Labert Stahl, Paul Vollmer, Mrs. Jack Meiers and Karen, all of Manning; Mrs. Edwin Bargenquast, Manilla; Mrs. Wade Hauser, Casey; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Vollmer, Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. William Vollmer, Yankton, S.D.; Vincent Schwenk, Gilbert; Gladys Vollmer, Mrs. V. Isakson and Bruno Ginaldi, all of Minneapolis, Minn.
