Description	:	Ellen Murison Gallaher, 92, died in Wenatchee at the home of her daughter on Nov. 3, 2001. She was born on May 23 1909, at Glen Brae Farm near Mansfield, the site homesteaded by her parents, James and Ethel (Stone) Murison, both of whom immigrated from Scotland. She was born on May 23 1909, at Glen Brae Farm near Mansfield, the site homesteaded by her parents, James and Ethel (Stone) Murison, both of whom immigrated from Scotland. After attending Rose Hill country school, she graduated from Mansfield High School, class of 1927. On Oct. 27, 1931, she married Henry M. Gallaher, who preceded her in death in 1995. Together, they owned and operated a cattle and wheat ranch at Mansfield, where she lived before moving to Wenatchee in 1995. She worked for several years following her high school graduation as Assistant Postmistress at the Mansfield Post Office, an experience she pleasantly recalled. She appreciated too, her rural life, her firm roots in a place and her connectedness to a small community whose history paralleled her own. Ellen Gallaher joined Mansfield Rebekah Lodge No. 281 in 1930. She was a member also of Harmony Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Past Noble Grands Club of the Rebekah Lodge, the Mansfield Sunshine Club and the Mansfield Grange. Always active in church affairs, she was affiliated in recent years with the Mansfield United Protestant Church. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Kaye Petersen and Mary Ellen Wax and husband Darold, all of Wenatchee; eight grandchildren, Suzanne Petersen and husband Lowell Miller of Seattle, Leslie Petersen and husband Wayne Myers of El Paso, TX, Mona Hartman and husband Wesley of Jacksonville, OR, Karen Kneadler and husband Bill of Orondo, Noreen Reis and husband Mark of Mukilteo, Mitchell Wax of Kirkland, Kathleen Moss and husband Alex of Tigard, OR and Jon Wax of Wenatchee. Other survivors include 11 great-grandchildren, Nash, Gus and Sage Miller, Ashlee Myers, Alexandra and Jacob Hartman, Sarah Kneadler, Vernon and Violet Reis and Justin and Nathaniel Moss; three sisters, Mabel McLean of Moses Lake, Ethel Poole of Mansfield and Margaret Smith of Spokane; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Murison of Mansfield, Lois Gallaher of Seattle and Dorothy Barrett of Kettle Falls. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Wax and a brother, George Murison. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, Nov, 9, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the Mansfield United Protestant Church. Pastor Sam Buckingham will officiate. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Mansfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the Mansfield Museum and Historical Society or the Mansfield United Protestant Church.
