Burial was in the City Cemetery at Guttenberg. The Rev. Ted. Newton, pastor, officiated. Moser died at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, June 3, 1977, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. He had been in the hospital a short time. A son of Andrew and Liza Moser, Elmer was born on a farm southeast of Osterdock, in Millville Township, on March 6, 1893. He grew to manhood during the period that the automobile was being introduced to the Clayton County area and followed the trade of auto mechanic until he retired. On April 8, 1914, he was married to Blanche Emily Mast in a ceremony at Osterdock. They lived at Guttenberg for a time and then moved to Colesburg where Elmer established a garage and repair shop. He disposed of this business and moved to Elkader in 1940. In Elkader he was employed at the Chevrolet Garage and Dittmer Motor Co. He also served as custodian of the Clayton County Courthouse during World War II. He retired following part time employment at the Miller Ice Cream Co. His wife preceded him on April 29, 1975. His mother died in 1932 and his father in 1955. He was the last of his family. Preceding him were three brothers, Jess, Al and Sumner and a sister, Mrs. Irvin (Pearl) Graybill. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Mr. Moser was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League and enjoyed fishing and hunting during his active days. Pallbearers at his last rites were fellow members of the Masonic Lodge: John Wildman, Eiler Jensen, Russell Huggins, George Scofield, Ralph Hoover and Glenn Gifford.
