Pastor Sanford Sill officiated the service, Gretchen Patterson served as organist and Paul Thomsen was the vocalist. Elsie passed away in Sioux City on January 20. Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Elsie was born on June 2, 1910 in Doklwarfe, Germany to Henry and Gerhardina (Heeren) Schroeder. The family moved to the United States in 1913, landing at Baltimore, Maryland where they made their way to Chatsworth, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Chatsworth, and attended country school in the Chatsworth area. On February 4, 1931 Elsie was united in marriage to Washington (Wash) Timmons at Chatsworth. They farmed in the Chatsworth, Hartley, Everly and Linn Grove areas. Wash passed away on April 21, 1977. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and doing crafts. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove and the Ladies Circle (ALCW) at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, a son-in-law, Roger Mansfield, five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Mansfield of Sioux City; two grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Fred Schroeder and his wife Cleo of Hartley and Walter Schroeder of Spencer; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
