Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 25 March 1959 Emil John Briese Died Suddenly at His Home The community was shocked and saddened on last Wednesday when word got around about noon that Emil John Briese, a resident of Chouteau county and Fort Benton since 1910, had passed away suddenly at his home at 820 Franklin street. Mr. Briese had been apparently in good health when he was stricken and passed away about 11 a.m. Death was due to coronary thrombosis. Emil John Briese was born March 2, 1880, at Waseca, Minn., where he spent his early life. He was united in marriage to Lola Atwood on Nov. 1, 1904, at Waseca, and they continued to live there until 1910 when the family moved to Chouteau county and Mr. Briese homesteaded in the Loma area. They resided there for 42 years and he retired in 1952 and purchased a home in this city where they had since resided. Mr. Briese was held in highest esteem by those who knew him. The Briese voting precinct No. 27 was named for him and they maintained their registration there even after moving to town. He served for a number of years as trustee of the Briese school. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Mr. Briese was well known throughout the Fort Benton and Loma area and enjoyed meeting and visiting with people and made many friends that way. He was always of cheerful disposition and his passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Howard and Herbert Briese, of Loma, and Lloyd Briese, of National City, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Laura McKeever and Mrs. Annabelle Schoonover, of Loma, Mrs. Grace Senef, of Denton, and Mrs. Beulah Olson, of Great Falls; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Matilda Atwood, Spokane, Wash.; and other relatives and a host of friends who will mourn the passing of a kind and loving father and grandfather and a splendid neighbor and friend.
