Kocar were held from the Hingham Catholic church at 10 o'clock Monday morning. The Rev. Joe Peters, of Black Eagle, formerly of this parish, played and sang the requiem high mass. The Rev. John Kohnke, of Hingham, was the celebrant and the Rev. Martin Werner, of Great Falls, and also formerly of this parish, officiated as the deacon with the assistance of the Rev. Edmund Kinate, assistant pastor at Hingham, as sub-deacon. Vincent Sedivy, Jr., and Edwin Sorenson, nephews of the deceased were the servers for the mass ceremony. The Rev. J. Kohnke delivered the funeral sermon to a crowded church of the many friends who had come to pay their final respects to a departed neighbor and friend. Among the many old acquaintances of the deceased, the following were selected to carry the mortal remains to its final resting place in the Hingham Union cemetery: James Smrz, Vincel Horinek, Alvah Jones, Frank Farnik, William Horinek, and Paul Surovi. The body was received and blessed at the Kocar home at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Holland and Bonine funeral home. The rosary was recited at the home at 4:30 that afternoon by the member of the Catholic Ladies Club, at 6:30 that evening by the Catholic Youth's Club and at 8 o'clock by the members of the Men's Catholic club of this parish. The casket was completely enshrined with wreaths, pillows, and sprays of beautiful floral tokens that bespoke the kindly sentiments shared by a host of sorrowing friends. Members of the Catholic Ladies club sang the high mass offered by the pastor for the deceased on Sunday morning. Wake was observed at the Kocar home throughout the night by members of the Men's Catholic club. Each watch, consisting of two members, was changed frequently during the night. Emil Kocar, 42, passed away in a Havre hospital at 11 o'clock Thursday night, December 26, following an illness of but a few days from a ruptured appendix. An emergency operation disclosed his condition as being extremely critical and despite the skill of medical science, the hand of Death could not be stayed. Emil John Kocar was born at Medford, Wisconsin, on July 19, 1898, the son of Joseph and Bertha (Jari) Kocar. He came to Hingham, Montana, in 1925 and assisted his brother Jerry in farming. Later he joined his brother Joe in the same occupation until 1934 at which time he assumed the local managership obf the Occident elevator. He was united in marriage to Miss Rose Sedivy on October 10, 1933, which union has been blessed with two daughters. In the spring of 1940 he left this elevator position to give assistance in the Chicago Store, which mercantile establishment was supervised by his beloved wife. In the departure of Emil Kocar this community has sustained a severe loss. His amicable and cheerful disposition and his generous spirit and evident sympathies for those less fortunate have placed him high in esteem and admiration in the hearts of many endeared friends who keenly share in the bereavement of his dearly beloved ones at home. He was a devoted husband, a beloved father and a true adherent to his church. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mary Ann and Marcella, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Chinadle of Hingham and Mrs. J. Barta of Buffalo and four brothers Frank, Joe, Jerry, and Louis, all of Hingham.
