Description	:	Big Timber Pioneer, 7 December 1983 Life Long Rancher Emil Drivdahl Dies Emil Leonard Drivdahl, 81, died Saturday, December 3, 1983, at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Big Timber after a long illness. He was born near Moi, Norway on April 6, 1902, a son of Oskar and Anna Helleren Drivdahl. He came to the United States with his parents and sister Clara, arriving in Big Timber in April 1909 and moved into a small cabin on the Arneson ranch on Swamp Creek. That fall the Dricdahls moved to their homestead which was located about five miles northeast of Melville. He came to the United States with his parents and sister Clara, arriving in Big Timber in April 1909 and moved into a small cabin on the Arneson ranch on Swamp Creek. Emil lived with his parents there until his marriage to Margaret Lamach on February 10, 1934. They made their home on the Nels Helleren place north of the Langhus place for about ten years. In 1944 Emil and his family moved to their present home eight miles north on Big Timber Creek. Mr. Drivdahl had farmed and ranched all of his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, David and John of Big Timber, Emil of Kent, WA, and Martin of Helena; one daughter, Teresa Ridgeway of Chaplin, CT; a brother Louis Drivdahl of Dillon; two sisters, Margaret Plaggemeyer of Big Timber and Clara Overfelt of Great Falls, 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational Church with Rev. Martin Siebert officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Casket bearers will be George Lien, David Hathaway, Norris Johnson, Tom Osen, Gordon Osen, and Martin Hauge. Honorary bearers are all of his friends. Music is by Werner and Debbie Seibert and the selection is; "Just As I Am." The congregation will sing "Fairest Lord Jesus" and Unto the Hills I Will Lift Mine Eyes" John Stene will give the Lord's Prayer in Norwegian. Contributor: Julia Kinsey (48922386) •
