Description	:	Emily J. (Phillips) Ridgeway, 80, died of respiratory arrest on Saturday, Jan. 14, at a Miles City hospital. At her request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City. Em was born on July 3, 1931 in Havre, Montana, to Curt and Mary (Murphy) Phillips. She attended Northern and Eastern Montana Colleges and worked at Buttrey's in Havre and Powers & Von Ragsdale in Lewistown. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City. Em was born on July 3, 1931 in Havre, Montana, to Curt and Mary (Murphy) Phillips. She attended Northern and Eastern Montana Colleges and worked at Buttrey's in Havre and Powers & Von Ragsdale in Lewistown. On March 31, 1951, she married John Ridgeway in her home town of Rudyard, MT. Em enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school and sports events, reading and playing cards. She was a long-time member of the Republican Party. She and John farmed and ranched outside of Windham, MT for many years. When John's health failed, she moved to Miles City to live with her daughter. At the time of her death, she was living at TLC, an assisted-living center in Miles City. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring owners and staff at TLC, including Barb and Roger Melchoir, and all the wonderful ladies there who took such good and loving care of our mother. Preceding Em in death were her husband, John; and a daughter, Susan. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Ridgeway (Gary Day) of Miles City; her two sons, Randal Ridgeway (Dawn) and Michael Ridgeway, both of Stanford; seven grandchildren: Robert Ridgeway, of Austin, TX, Blake Ridgeway, of Chicago, Il, Ashley Ernst Maart (Joel) of Duluth, MN, Brandon Ernst, Cole Mickelson and Lucas Ridgeway, all of Missoula, and Lander Ridgeway, of Stanford; two great-grandchildren: Titus and Nicholas Maart, of Duluth, MN; a sister, Irene Potter, of Carmichael, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Judith Basin County Library.
