JOHN PATTERSON Mrs. Emma A., wife of John Patterson, died at her home near Brookville, Nov. 26, 1886. She was the daughter of Phineas and Rachel Fawcett, and was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Aug. 21, 1833, where in January, 1852, she was married to John Patterson. In 1865 the family came to Iowa and settled on the place where they have since lived. Patterson. ----------------- Fairfield Tribune December 2, 1886 Pg. 3 Col. 4 DEATH OF MRS. JOHN PATTERSON Mrs. Emma A., wife of John Patterson, died at her home near Brookville, Nov. 26, 1886. She was the daughter of Phineas and Rachel Fawcett, and was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Aug. 21, 1833, where in January, 1852, she was married to John Patterson. In 1865 the family came to Iowa and settled on the place where they have since lived. At the age of fourteen deceased connected herself with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she continued a faithful member until death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. C. Smith, at the Brookville M.E. church, Nov. 28th, and the remains afterward interred in the Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield. Mrs. Patterson was a woman of vigorous constitution and unusual energy; with these she combined a cheerful disposition and loving and sympathetic nature which endeared her to many. The loss is deeply felt, not only by the disconsolate husband and large family of sons and daughters who rise up to call her blessed, but also by those among whom she went in and out for so many years. In life ever faithful as a wife and devoted as a mother, she now rests from her labors and her works do follow her. - - - Card of Thanks. - We wish hereby to express our thanks, as best we may, to the manyfriends who so kindly extended us their assistance and sympathy in our recent affliction and bereavement.
