Read More	JEWELL COUNTY REPUBLICAN, Thursday July 27, 1950 Front Page; EMMA FAYE HOFER Emma Faye Hofer, daughter of the late Winfield Scott Henninger and Katie Emmert Henninger, was born February 18, 1906 at Jewell, Kansas, and departed from this life at Maryville, MO., July 22, 1950, at the age of 44 years, five months and four days. She was ill for a year but remained cheerful and hopeful. She grew to womanhood in the Jewell community, where she graduated from high school. Later she was a student at the University of Kansas. Early in life she became a member of the Evangelical church, the church of her parents' choice. In later years she attended services in, and was affiliated with Methodist churches in towns where she lived. On August 10, 1924, she was married to Henry C. Hofer in the home of her parents in Jewell, Kans. Three sons and a daughter were born to them; Leland S., Armand G., Jarrel and Joanne, all of the home at the time of their mother's death. Surviving are the husband, three sons and a daughter; her aged mother, Mrs. Katie Henninger, Topeka, Kans.; two brothers, Carl Henninger, Covina, Calif., and R. Berg Henninger, Topeka, Kans.; and one sister, Miss Betty Henninger, also of Topeka, Kans. Soon after her marriage Mrs. Hofer took an active interest in her husband's business, and was a valued assistant in the years her children did not require her constant care. In the past year ill health has forced her to give up newspaper work to a large extent, but she was still greatly interested. Mrs. Hofer liked young people were they the members of a church youth group or Sunday school class with whom she worked or joined in song; Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or boys and girls whom she met in the business of daily living. Young folks seemed to know that in her understanding heart there was joy and pride for their worthwile ambitions; sincere sympathy when they failed; and a loving forgiveness for their minor transgressions.
