HERMAN MEIER Mrs. Herman Meier, nee Emma Sophia Caroline Boehmer, was born on June 17, 1886 and departed this life on March 2nd, 1967 at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 13 days. She was born on a farm northeast of DuBois, Nebraska where all her young life was spent in the family home and where she grew to womanhood. She attended the Union Dale grade school, District 66. On March 31, 1901, she was Confirmed in the Evangelical Frieden's Church near DuBois, Nebraska by Rev. Vogt. On Sept. 25, 1906, she was united in marriage to Herman E. Meier of DuBois. Their early wedded life was spent on a farm near Seneca, Kansas, and three years later they moved to the farm home where they resided at the time of her death. To this union three children were born: Carl of DuBois, Mrs. Phillip Fritch (Esther) and Arthur both of Table Rock. On Sept. 22, 1956, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed good health until the time of the tragedy, which came as a terrific blow to everyone. Death was due to a car accident just a short distance from their home on March 2, 1967. She and her husband were both taken to the Pawnee hospital. She was transferred to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln where she was summoned to her eternal resting place the following morning. Mrs. Meier was very devoted to her family, helping wherever and whenever she was able. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed their company when they came to visit. Her spare time was spent in crochet work. This she enjoyed until her eyesight was dimmed by cataracts, which she had removed a year ago. In her passing, she is survived by her husband, Herman; their three children, Carl. Esther, and Arthur; their four grandchildren, Minnie Lu Korber, Mrs. Ardyce Cumro, Mrs. Cynthia Weddle, and Lynn Meier; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her four sisters: Minnie Tibbets, Mrs.Lillie Gunzenhauser, Mrs. Rose Steiner, and Mrs. Esther E. Fritch; and two brother, William and Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mrs. Mary Schultz; and a brother, Carl; also a brother and sister who died during infancy.
