Mr. Van Antwerp read the following life sketch: Ernest Alvin Decker, the son of Frank A. and Adora Stoots Decker was born Nov. 11, 1890 in York County, Nebr. At the age of five the family came to Iowa which was his home the rest of his life. He attended the rural schools. On Oct. 23, 1912 he was united in marriage with Blanche Lydia Soliday at Glenwood. They established their home on a farm east of Silver City. He was a farmer the greater part of his life. To this union five children were born: Earnest Alvin of Glenwood; Mae D. Hall who passed away March 15, 1965; Margie V. Hampton of Emerson; Lyle Gaile who passed away Dec. 25, 1958 and Robert George of Fremont, Calif. He leaves to mourn his passing, the three children, two grandsons and six granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers, many nieces and nephews. His father, mother and two brothers preceded him in death. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 21, 1962 at the Baptist Church in Emerson with 264 relatives, and friends, signing the guest book. His brothers Guy, Harold and Gail and sister, Mrs. J. C. (Ethel) Wilhelm of Glenwood, Mrs. R. E.(Edith) Glebe of Council Bluffs and sister Mrs. Harvey (Edna) Bolte of Silver City, Iowa.
