Killed when he lost control of his car was Lyle Gail Decker, 34, Henderson. The accident occurred about 11:45 a.m. Thursday two miles east of Emerson on highway 34. There was no witness to the accident. An Essex farmer found Decker shortly after the accident happened. Deputy Sheriff Ed Barkus said it appeared Decker had lost control of the car, a 1951 Ford tudor. The accident took place as Decker was coming off a curve and onto a straight stretch of highway. A year ago there were only four traffic deaths in the county, but the accident volume was highter then, Sheriff Don Rhoden said. Funeral services were held for Mr. Decker Sunday at the Emerson Baptist Church with Mansfield's in charge of arrangements. They were conducted by the Rev. Richard Person and the Rev. C. H. Shanklin, a former pastor. Serving as pallbearers were Ray Huntsman, Raymond Mitchell, Wendell Harold, Gordon Thomas, Wayne Bass, and Dean Mitchell. George Stille and Frank Cole were ushers. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ivan Durbin who was accompanied by Mrs. Horace Greenwood. Caring for flowers were Mrs. Gordon Hascall, Mrs. Gordon Thomas, Mrs. Ray Huntsman, and Mrs. Dean Mitchell. The son of Earnest Alvin and Blanch L. Decker, Lyle Gail Decker was born on a farm south of Glenwood, May 12, 1924, where he spent his early childhood. He lived in Mils County most of his life, receiving his schooling here. He had worked for the Burlington Railroad, as a farm laborer and for the past few years, and at the time of his death, was employed by the Armour Packing plant in Omaha. He was baptized into the Baptist Church in Emerson in 1945, later transferring his membership to the First Baptist Church in Glenwood. He was united in marriage to Joyce Garner of Omaha, December 24, 1951. The Deckers had one child, Gwenda Lee, 6, of Glenwood. He is survived by his daughter and widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest A. Decker of Emerson, two brothers, Earnest Alvin of Glenwood, and Robert G. of San Diego, California, two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Hall and Mrs. Margie Hampton, both of Emerson, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many friends.
