Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Marty Egging and Alex Borzych will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Eurek, 87, of Loup City died Monday, March 14, 2016, at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lincoln. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Eurek was born on March 13, 1929, on a farm near Paplin, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Smydra) Smolla. As a young child, she moved with her family to Rockville where she attended Rockville Public School and later graduated from Loup City High School. She was united in marriage to Steven E. Eurek on Jan. 29, 1946, at Rockville. The couple lived, farmed and raised their family north of Ashton. In the Fall of 1998, the couple retired and moved into Loup City. Ernestine then volunteered at Loup City Public Schools as a reading mentor. She was a former member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton, where she sang in the church choir and taught CCD. After moving to Loup City, she was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, Rosary Sodality, Servants of Mary, Quest Group and Healing Ministries. She had also been a member of the Merry Maids extension club. Ernestine enjoyed gardening, playing cards, puzzles and time spent with her family. She is survived by her children and spouses, Mary J. Krolikowski of Alda, Ronald and Marsha Eurek of Ashton, Timothy and Sharon Eurek of Farwell, Patrick and Loraine Eurek of San Antonio, Texas, Terry and Denise Eurek of Omaha, Paul and Deb Eurek of Loup City, Linda and Mike Zeleski of Plano, Texas, Christine Eurek of Lincoln and David Eurek of Lincoln; 21 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Eurek of Loup City; and brother-in-law, Richard McLain of O’Neill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven on Oct. 20, 2012; son-in-law, Lambert Krolikowski; sisters, Agnes Treffer, Frances Koehler, Marie Kaslon and Margaret McLain; and brothers, Edward, Alex, Joe, Richard and Edwin Smolla.
