Steve was born on July 8, 1923, on the family farm north of Ashton, NE. the son of John and Mary (Bandur) Eurek. Steve is survived by: wife, Ernestine Eurek of Loup City, NE.; children and their spouses, Mary J. and Lambert Krolikowski of Alda, NE., Ronald and Marsha Eurek of Ashton NE., Timothy and Sharon Eurek of Farwell, NE., Patrick and Loraine Eurek of San Antonio, TX., Terry and Denise Eurek of Omaha, NE., Paul and Deb Eurek of Loup City, NE., Linda and Mike Zeleski of Plano, TX., Christine Eurek of Lincoln, NE. and David Eurek of Lincoln, NE.; 21 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie Eurek of Loup City, NE., Margaret and Richard McLain of O'Neill, NE., Rose Smolla of Blair, NE. and Harriett Smolla, of Bloomfield, IL. Steve attended St. Francis parochial school in Ashton, NE. and graduated from Loup City (NE.) High School in 1940. He then taught school in rural Sherman County, NE. for several years. He later worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. in airplane repairs. Steve returned to the Ashton, NE. area to farm and was united in marriage to Ernestine P. Smolla on Jan. 29, 1946, at Rockville, NE. The couple lived and farmed north of Ashton, NE. and he also worked part-time for the ASCS office in Loup City, NE. They retired from the farm in the Fall of 1998 and moved into Loup City, NE. He moved to the Rose Lane Home, Loup City, NE. in July 2012, where he lived the rest of his life. Steve was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 5455. Steve enjoyed playing cards, baseball, softball and golfing, as well as, hunting, fishing and following all sports. He dearly loved all his grandkids and great-grandkids. Steve was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Mike Eurek; and sisters, Agnes Eurek, Josephine Eurek, Catherine Eurek, Rose Eurek, Anna Shotkoski and Barbara Marvel. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Loup City, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on October 22, 2012
