She was born Nov. 22, 1924, in Freedom Township (Henry County) to the late Alfred and Emelie (Tietje) Gerken. On Jan. 11, 1945, she married Carl H. Bostelman, and he survives. Esther was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Adams Ridge), where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and a member of Ladies Aid of the Church. Bostelman, age 84, of Defiance County, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. She was born Nov. 22, 1924, in Freedom Township (Henry County) to the late Alfred and Emelie (Tietje) Gerken. On Jan. 11, 1945, she married Carl H. Bostelman, and he survives. Esther was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Adams Ridge), where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and a member of Ladies Aid of the Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post 300 and the V.F.W. Auxillary, both of Napoleon, and also the Filling Home Guild. She is survived by sons, Jerry (Janice) Bostelman of Wauseon, Larry Bostelman of Evansport, Terry (Cheryl) Bostelman of Ridgeville Corners; daughters, Carol Ann (Don) Behrman of Malinta, Mary Jane (Lee) Frazee of Montpelier, Joyce (Jeff) Colegrove of Fayette, Sandy Bostelman of Wauseon, Shelli (Rod) Luzar of Camden, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda (Jack) Lugbill and Cindy Bostelman, brothers Elmer and Vic Gerken, and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Adams Ridge) with the Rev. Thomas Frey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery Friends will be received Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted by Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.
